Newforma, a provider of project information management (PIM) software for architects, engineers, contractors and owners worldwide, has announced the latest version of Newforma Project Center. This release enhances security with multi-factor authentication (MFA) capabilities for Newforma Info Exchange and Microsoft SharePoint Online. The release also includes a new connector for Autodesk Construction Cloud and improvements for the Microsoft SharePoint connector.
Newforma addresses cybersecurity concerns by adding MFA to the main applications used to share project information: Project Center Info Exchange and Microsoft SharePoint Online Connector. Users accessing SharePoint Online through the Project Center for the first time will be prompted to authenticate.
MFA, also known as two-factor authentication (2FA), adds a second layer of security beyond traditional username and password access. MFA prevents unauthorized information access and data theft.
“The construction industry is a major target for cybercriminals, primarily due to the type and amount of data that is transferred daily between multiple parties. Newforma Project Center users now have additional protection when sending or sharing sensitive project information,” said Slater Latour, director of marketing and product at Newforma.
Newforma’s latest connector for Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) allows users to access, view and share ACC documents directly from Newforma Project Center. Users have a unified view of ACC documents along with all other related information such as RFIs, submissions and action items. Additionally, ACC documents are scanned, indexed and OCRed by Newforma’s search to find any word embedded in an ACC file.
The Project Center connector for Microsoft SharePoint Online has also been updated. Project creation is made easy by linking to SharePoint Online documents through a primary connection, eliminating the need to create a separate connection for each project. The SharePoint Online connector also includes new functionality that allows users to open, edit, and save SharePoint documents directly from the Project Center. There is no need to separately upload modified documents to SharePoint.
In this new release, Newforma has also included support for Autodesk 2023 and Microsoft Windows 11. Newforma customers will also notice a change in the version numbering system. The release naming convention has been simplified by using the release year, followed by the release number for that year. This new version has the number 2022.2 because there was an earlier version of Project Center in February 2022.
