Patricia McDonald, MBA/PMP, Lecturer; University of Colorado Lockheed Martin Engineering Management Program, College of Engineering and Applied Science presented to Project Managers (PMs) at the Regis PMI South Roundtable on April 27, 2022. Don Gier, Associate Professor , Anderson College of Business and Computing, supported PMI Mile Hi Chapter volunteers and guest speaker with session orientation/setup, webinar management and recording ensure the event was a hit.
Patricia’s presentation entitled Business Acumen: a competitive advantage in project management shared how PMs can improve project results by learning business skills. She drew on her past experience in several industries to illustrate with concrete examples how business acumen could be applied in PM’s day-to-day activities. Patricia also drew on the writings of renowned experts such as Ram Charan and Robert Wysocki, showing their perspectives on the design and integration of project management methodology and business process design. About the speaker. Patricia McDonald has held various commercial positions in the federal government, aerospace, banking, information technology and telecommunications. She has managed multi-million dollar projects in these industries. Patricia was responsible for resources and budgets on US and global projects, including Europe, Asia and the Americas. She has developed project management processes, participated in IBM management certification boards, conducted project quality reviews, and presented key project management concepts at IBM conferences.
